Obama – Off to a Good Start

Follow me, or feel my wrath!!!
One of my hopes, in keeping with Obama’s theme of hope, is that the Republicans take over during the mid term elections. In order for this CHANGE to occur, we will need Obama’s astronomical approval rating to approach more human levels, and for him to have generally NOT lived up to the hype. So far, so good, but we can only hope the trend continues. Obama reminds me of every black supervisor I have ever had at a job. He’s a bad leader and he makes up for his shortfalls by saying what’s popular and finding a scapegoat. He does one thing and says another, and then he goes back to the other side. I guess this is not quite how you expected this article to read, so Democrats, if you haven’t already, you can stop reading now.
Example one. Obama talks about America needing to come together and forget about ideology and principles and support his plans. He then hands the reins on his stimulus package to the most partisan people in the land to create a plan that Republicans would be expected to be team players and support (see Pelosi). Then when his people in Congress present a stimulus plan with no real stimulus included to Republicans, and the Republicans balk, guess what happens. Obama gets on his high horse and talks down about Republicans for not being willing to compromise, when its obvious this bill was drawn up with the expectation of being able to roll Republicans with a purely Democratic bill.
Example two. Obama talks about fiscal responsibility, then appoints two people he obviously knew didn’t pay their taxes. Obviously the feeling had to be that Americans would be so giddy they wouldn’t mind the president appointing people who talk about spending money to help people, but balk at paying their part of it.
Example three. Obama talks about executives being irresponsible with the government’s tax dollars by taking private jets to expensive retreats. What does he do immediately. He takes a private jet to a democratic retreat at a resort. I know Air Force one is used for security reasons, but damn it, if he can get away with keeping his crack berry, he can take a motorcade on a three hour drive en lieu of taking a private jet.
That’s my rant for today. Now for a question or two.
1) Is it me or was President Bush not covered in the media as much as Obama, or as positively. The media started attacking Bush before he even won the party nomination. Obama is so coveted that he’s covered by every media outlet daily, and when he says or does something wrong, they almost seem to apologize for him.
2) Why does Obama continue to say that the American people “overwhelmingly” voted for his ideas and for change. It seems to me, that 58 million Americans voted against his idea of change, versus 66 million for it. Those numbers don’t exactly seem overwhelming to me. To me, overwhelming would be more like 90 million to 34 million. You can’t claim to be a uniter, when every day you’re basically ignoring the large number of people who don’t believe what you’re selling.
