Yes, Black People ARE Racist too. A Shirley Sherrod experience

As a black Libertarian I am no stranger to the flawed backwards looking thought process of black people in America.  I have had to debate the merits of forward thinking and big picture thinking and seeing us as Americans and not as a separatist culture of pseudo-Americans.  If you dig deep enough you’ll hit that point at which any black person exposes their own prejudice and racism.  The problem is that they have been raised to think that their separate African America is the better culture and that the rest of the world is racist and only moments from re-instating racism.  All the shortcomings of black people are the result of others.  Anything a white person says that doesn’t agree with black culture is racist, yet black people can’t be racist.  I’m here to introduce a new, truly progressive way to view black people.  We are not the seperate group of people who are special because we look the same.  We are Americans who happen to have brown skin.  Our equality will not come through the actions of others but through our actions.  There is a reason there are some people who are extraordinary and successful, but most black people are not.  Because the successful look to the future and work on securing it instead of living in the past.  But I have strayed beyond the point.  The point is that there are plenty of Shirley Sherrod’s in the real world who are not being taken out of context from a dated speech.  They say the things we thought Sherrod did in today’s world.  Here’s a chat transcript from a friendly debate I had with one.

Erica : i have a bank account at Edited. including savings that have been gaining interest since henry box brown
blaq: you should be good then.
Erica : i have a netspend account because i like two days early on my paycheck. then i transfer the money for free
blaq: who is henry box brown?
Erica : the slave that tried to mail himself to freedom by stuffing himself in a box and going to the post office. and he made it
blaq: oh
Erica: not such a bad idea, aside from the whole not being able to breath thing.
blaq: too bad niggas dont have any ingenuity today
Erica: some. not all. stop stereotyping my race
Erica: u do know ur black too, right?
blaq: nope.  I’m american
blaq: <My city>an
Erica: well, i am a proud African American. My fam his goes way back and i am not ashamed to be apart of them. something else we apparently do not agree on
blaq: Meh.  the majority of black folk aint noteworthy
blaq: but they quote the noteworthy ones then complain about their condition instead of doing somehting about it
Erica: not to u but like i said, i am proud of my ancestors
Erica: not ashamed
blaq: I’m not ashamed.  disappointed maybe.
Erica: oh brother. smh
blaq: black people been bullshitting themselves since the end of slavery
blaq: I’m more proud of America.
blaq: my history includes black and white and indian and many other people
Erica: yeah. i dunno. i still love my ancestors and rep my fam no matter what. and for that matter i rep who i am: a beautiful, African American
Erica: we may not see eye to eye on that unfortunately
blaq: I rep who I am, an american who just happens to have brown skin
Erica: and i love my brown skin and i love people with the same skin
blaq: until black folk do they will always be stuck in african america
Erica: i love others too but i love who and what i came from
blaq: segregated from the rest of America in ghettos cause they like each other
Erica: yup, and if that is where my people are then that is where i will be
blaq: and mentally stuck
Erica: African American for LIFE
blaq: mentally stuck behind the rest of America with a self defeating seperatist culture
blaq: from the people who claim to demand equality.
Erica: yup
blaq: what  a joke
Erica: thats where i will be
Erica: and i will still move up because that is what i want to do, but in the end i am never gonna forget where i came from
blaq: which will limit you and your kids in the future
Erica: yup
blaq: it’s all good tho.  they can look up at my kids asses.  lol
Erica: www.limit.com
blaq: and pray for another obama
Erica: and that is a bullshit thing to say, my kids aint gonna be kissin no ones ass, especially ur kids
Erica: lets get that straight
blaq: u said u gonna give them the mental handicap
blaq: http://differentwaytothink.com/index.php/2009/02/01/its-time-to-concentrate-on-an-american-future-and-not-a-black-history/
Erica: i did not say nothing about mentally handicapping anyone because i am not like that. i am saying that they are gonna be proud of where they came from instead of turning their back on their fam and their community, kissin white folks ass, and actin like they had no home training
blaq: http://differentwaytothink.com/index.php/2009/01/25/the-downfall-of-black-peopleourselves-as-exposed-by-president-obama/
Erica: we have diff ways of thinking and that is it
Erica: u can be on the level of whites but they aqre gonna be true to themselves
Erica: not kissin ass because someone said it was the right thing to do
blaq: You’re kissing the ass.  I have noone to kiss up to but me.  you have a whole race of people
Erica: my aunt is a prof., my bro is opening a business, my sis is going for a doctorate and none of them is kissin no ones ass and they are stayin tru to their fam
blaq: that’s the racism that the rest of the world talks about.
blaq: black people can be racist but noone else can
Erica: like i said, we think diff, no need to debate because u will never see it my way
blaq: cause your way is wrong
Erica: and all ur gonna do is say something racist about me or my future kids and imma bite ur head off
Erica: so lets drop it
blaq: hence black folk still stuck in inner cities crying white people doing them wrong thinking your way
blaq: lol
blaq: this is good content for the blog tho
Erica: i never said that but ur ignorance is showing u what u want so…
blaq: ur ignorance.
Erica: when have u ever heard me say anything about the white man
Erica: when
blaq: lol.  I see the truth and chose the real path.  you see what others want you to continue to see and follow blindly
Erica: or have i said i am where i am because of what I DID, not the white man
blaq: just a few seconds ago in the chat
Erica: u need to learn about someone before u judge. its sad that with all that u say about white people judging blacks that u have bandwagoned with them
blaq: that explains why u don’t want to date the white dude.  ahh
Erica: thats not true. just because i love black men and do not stereotype black people does not mean i will not date white
Erica: i am not chasin down behind only white people
Erica: i love my raqce
Erica: race
blaq: it’s the truth.  all over america, most black people live in low income areas.  if you go to black run nations they all look similar to haiti
blaq: they alright, but not all
blaq: there are some extraordinary black people, but percentage wise, not many.
Erica: i just dont like u constantly stereotyping me and now my future kids when u dont know shit about me
Erica: its pissing me off and i need to go to bed. good night
blaq: black power
blaq: lol
blaq: nite
Erica is typing…
Erica: ignorance. and the KKK
blaq: there it goes.  lol
Ericahas signed out. (7/26/2010 1:04 AM)
